The Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies offers workshops for teachers in schools implementing the International Baccalaurate (IB) program.
More than 2,718 schools across the United States and around the world have adopted the IB curriculum since its founding in 1968. At the high school level, the IB program is designed for highly motivated students who are encouraged to attempt a demanding curriculum. IB students in high school must prepare for and pass rigorous standardized examinations to receive an IB diploma at the end of their four years. Further, those who earn the IB diploma are given appropriate college-level course credit at many of the world's leading universities, including Rice University.
The workshops at Rice are designed for new and experienced IB teachers at the Diploma Programme level who are interested in learning about the IB program and strategies and techniques for effectively teaching IB courses. Workshops will be led by experienced IB workshop leaders who have a strong background in teaching and an interest in developing the IB teacher community through rigorous professional development.
The Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University has a 15-year history in providing professional development for teachers and administers a diverse set of programs for teachers. The IB-approved workshops will be hosted at Rice University in Houston, Texas, USA, renowned for its beautiful campus.
